How To Make a Leprechaun Trap

Less than a week until St. Patrick’s Day!  And since I am probably not going to have my holiday game face on with a less-than-one-week-old, Jax and I created a leprechaun trap ahead of time so we could be sure to capture one of these sneaky tricksters and get his pot of gold!

Materials:  a lot of Popsicle sticks (probably about 25), Tacky Glue, paint, Lucky Charms, and some gold!

First, you create the walls of your trap by laying two Popsicle sticks down, then glue two across them, to create a square.  Continue in a log cabin style until you feel your trap is tall enough.

Then glue a rainbow of Popsicle sticks across the top of the trap to attract a leprechaun.  We all know they love rainbows!  And feel free to add a shamrock for good measure.  Of course you can make your trap as elaborate as you desire, but this was good enough for a very pregnant mama and 4-year-old.

Finally, the night before St. Patrick’s Day, lay your trap for your leprechauns however you’d like.  I think we will hold ours up with a small stick and use Lucky Charms for bait.  In the morning, the Lucky Charms should be gone (hint hint) and perhaps a leprechaun or a few pieces of his gold will be left behind!

I am so excited to give this a try this weekend.  I promise to let you know how it goes!
