Time Out!

The kids and I are heading down to Connecticut and Massachusetts to visit friends and family this week, so starting tomorrow I will do what I did last summer when I was away–share my favorite crafts and activities from the past year!  So see you tomorrow and get your “Pin It” buttons ready–it’s going to be a great week!

Happy Memorial Day!

We at Rub Some Dirt On It wish you all a happy, safe, sunny, and memorable Memorial Day!  We are (hopefully!) still at the beach in New Hampshire–we’re sleeping in a camper for the first time, with JDubbs’s brother’s family there, too!  Should be loads of fun with tons of great pictures and memories.  See you when we get back!

Until then, enjoy this unbelievable photo I took of Em the other day for her 2nd year birthday photos.  I think it’s the best one I’ve ever taken!  Thank God for my 85mm lens!

Also, don’t forget to take a minute to remember those we have lost, especially those in the Armed Forces who have died so that we may have the freedom to enjoy beautiful days like this.  Be safe and God Bless You!

A Mouthful

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have bitten off more than I can chew.

In the next seven days, I will have shot 9 photo shoots, which will require a quick turnaround for editing because these photos are holiday card photos and potential holiday gifts.  I will have traveled to Connecticut (7 hours in the car), only to turn around and head to Massachusetts (5 hours in the car) less than 24 hours later.

I am a mother, a wife, a sister, a friend.  Those roles have obligations.

I am a writer and photographer, with a blog that I love and readers who enjoy being here.  I have an obligation to you all as well.

The photography class I signed up for, that exorcised my funky demons, is a WAY bigger deal than I anticipated.  Think a showing of our work reflecting the aftermath of Hurricane Irene in an actual gallery, with corresponding written works that will be punctuated by our images.  No pressure.

Don’t forget Life and Karma, those two schemers who always love to throw a curve ball in the works as soon as I get my act together.  I’m sure there will be a flat tire or a surprise camera malfunction that is going to make this entire ordeal that much more interesting.  Oh, man.

I’m in for it.

So, I may be a bit MIA, but I promise this flurry is but short-lived, and I’ll be back in full effect as soon as I am a little less obligated.  Not to say I won’t be here at all; just a little less frequently.  Soon I’ll be complaining about how boring life in Vermont is again.  Promise.

Taking Flight

While all of you are getting ready for fall, JDubbs and I are taking off for a mini-holiday.  We’re on our way to Bermuda for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday!  So I won’t be around to comment on the blog hop or visit your blogs until next week, but I hope you will continue to link up and play well together!

Have a great weekend!  I know we will!

We All Need A Time Out

Since my kids have been busy…

…I think we all need a good, long time out.  In Maine.  For a week.  With no Internet.  Just me, my hubby, his family, and our Wild Things.

Luckily for me, there will be a private boat in which I can sail, but maybe not in and out of weeks and over a year.  I just hope if I use my magic trick of staring into their eyes without blinking once, I can tame them into submission for the five-hour car ride.  Or at least yell, “Be Still!” with some effect.

Until then, I will be reposting some of my favorite crafts, every day until I return.

Please enjoy them and I will be back next week, when I get lonely for those of you who love me best of all.  I will be expecting supper, and it better still be hot!
