Thankful

After this weekend, I am thankful for so many things.  I’m thankful for my husband, who spent his entire Thanksgiving weekend with my family without even a grumble.  My husband who has embraced my family, with all its quirks and nuances, as his own.  My husband who watched our kids on several occasions in the past month so that I could take photos or edit them, and who did not even give me one iota of grief when I dropped my 50mm lens and therefore needed to spend much of my photo shoot profits on a new one.  My husband who let me sleep in this morning because I worked hard all weekend, and have been sick, without me even asking.

I’m thankful for all my friends and family who have supported me during this photographic adventure, be it through actually paying me to take photos of your family, to watching my kids while I work, to listening to me complain/fret/overanalyze every step of this process, to supporting me with your praise.  All of it means so much to me, and I appreciate it often more than I say.

I’m thankful for the wonderful food we shared this week and everyday, and for the occasion to bring extended family together (all 20 of us for Thanksgiving dinner!).  I especially love watching the cousins who get along so well no matter how long it’s been between visits.  And I’m grateful for the health of my family gathered together and for those who were not present on this day.

I’m thankful for this blog and my readers, whose support I so appreciate, without which I would never had had the courage to begin taking my photography to the next level.  Even when it takes me away from spending my time here, overall I look forward to being back as soon as I can.

I am forever grateful for these two little monsters, and the joy they bring me on a day-to-day, minute-to-minute basis.

I took a bunch of the two of them together in their fancy clothes, but I may use one for our holiday card, so I can’t share any of the cute ones.  But as you can see from this silly shot, they did look very cute!

And lastly, I’m thankful for this last photo, inspired by a similar shot taken by my friend Amy of her daughter Nia, which I cannot get into a frame fast enough.

Ever since my ultrasound technician told us we were having a girl, I have been anticipating moments like this.  Even better than I imagined.

For all the many reasons, listed here and in my mind and heart, I am so very thankful.  I hope your weekend was just as blessed.

Well, Lookee Here!

So, everyone, what do you think of Rub Some Dirt’s new look?  She’s not quite as basic or technically deficient as she used to be; she’s all grown up and looking smart!

I wanted to be sure to thank Julie from Deluxe Designs for her outstanding work! I was inspired to contact Julie after seeing the beautiful transformation she created at one of my favorite blogs, Ordinary Miracles & The Crazy 8 (stole the rotating header idea from there).  Julie was wonderful to work with and literally was at my beck and call at sometimes the most random hours of the day and night.  She answered all my questions, even the must mundane, and was even available for slight changes after the fact.  I appreciated how much she wanted me to be happy with her work and wanted to create the vision I had in my mind.  And did she ever!  So thank you, Julie!

You can find her on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/deluxedesigns

What do you think?  Are you happy with my dirty digs?

Also, I wanted to be sure to mention that my blog was featured over at Be @ Home as The Best of the Web for my crafts!  Be @ Home is a site that is part of a directory of sites on www.become.com. that encourages how to be in style, connected, suave, green, beautiful… It’s an amazing resource and place to shop.  You certainly wouldn’t regret it if you headed over there and kill some time!

Things are looking up over here, especially the fact that I am currently working on my brand new laptop!  Happy to be back to work and back to normal!

Inner Monologue of Thanks

It’s been a while since I’ve been all talk and no photos, but it’s time for me to bust out this little button of mine.

I have to take a moment to thank everyone for your very kind words of support for my family for tomorrow’s surgery for Em.  I know it’s a small, routine procedure, but anytime one of my babies goes under anesthesia, I know I’m going to be so anxious.  Knowing people are thinking of her and sending well wishes really helps ease a bit of the anxiety.  Thank you!

Also, thank you to those who spontaneously send me positive feedback on the blog, my writing, and my photos.  Last night I was talking with JDubbs about how I feel very stressed and quick to anger lately; definitely not my usual self.  He suggested maybe I am stressed about the blog, and that is definitely true.  There is less time to do the small things I love in regards to blogging, like go to my favorite blogs every day to catch up and leave meaningful comments.  Some of the problem is that I have too many blogs I follow and it takes a long time!  Also, I am spending less time on the computer during these busy summer days, so all these hours are being logged late at night, and some things have to give.  I don’t link up to as many hops and link parties as I used to, and I regret that.  I am focusing more on the photography link ups rather than the craft ones right now, but I know once the weather gets colder, we’ll be inside more and I’ll be whipping up some more disastrous and funny crafting adventures.  So while I’m trying to work out the balance between summer life and being a blogging mom, I really do appreciate your kind words of support.  I genuinely savor them all.

This blog is my sanity and my creative outlet.  It is a treasure and a challenge for me.  I may not be perfect at it, but I’ll get it down one day.  For now, thanks for sticking with me through my growing pains!  I’m so glad you enjoy it here.
